FreeSpeak II-Base-II has landed!

We are excited to welcome the addition of the Clearcom FreespeakII  wireless communications system to our rental inventory.

With routing and configuration of up to 25 belt packs and the industry’s most stable platform, it will bring coordination confidence to your event. In this industry, fast reliable communication is one of the safest places to hold investment. Communication between audio, lighting, video, technical directors, the talent and the client all happens at the speed of show.

Night of swing @ Ritz DC!

The Duke Ellington Orchestra is known for its 15 piece, captivating performance.  This year was no exception.

The annual DC appearance was held at the Ritz Carlton and all the sound elements of a music venue needed to fit into a ballroom!  The orchestra is comprised of trumpets, saxes, flutes, trombones, piano and drums, 8 separate monitor mixes and wireless vocal performances. All of which presented a great challenge to our sales and audio engineer teams.  However, with above and beyond pre-production strategies, Eventmediatech was able to provide the level of sound reinforcement this award-winning orchestra requires.

While audio was on mission critical,  we won’t forget our video and lighting teams that provided IMAG, a stage wash and awesome dance floor lighting!

Advanced TAP Classes in Session!

 

Winter TAP (Tech Advancement Program) sessions have started, and the team jumped right in with an advanced Projection class! These classes are designed to propel eager-to-learn technicians forward into greater roles of responsibility and knowledge. Today’s (8) hour course covered everything from Max Resolution & Refresh Rate to Converging and Blending.  With hands on learning employing use of Eventmediatech’s  Barco RLM-W14’s and real-world scenarios, we take a practical and fun approach to learning projection. Support for ACTSPWC @ Water’s End Brewery

On this cheerful mid-holiday Sunday, local artists and beer enthusiasts alike gathered at Woodbridge, VA local brewery, Water’s End. The amazing (and thirsty) crowd generously participated in give-aways, raffles and substantial cash donations, all made in support of the ambitious Action in Community Through Service Charity Foundation.  Event & Media Technologies was humbled to offer sponsorship towards local issues concerning housing, emergency assistance, sexual assault, domestic violence and suicide prevention. We can all continue to back this pivitol foundation by visiting and donating to ACTSPWC.ORG

None of this of course, would have been possible without the compassion of one local man, Travis Morton! As a well known audiovisual technician, Travis needs no introduction.  As an emerging art and social issue spokesman, this is just the start!  We applaud his community service and agree locally distilled beer and art will always draw a crowd!

Congratulations to our Featured Tech, Andrew Abell! Andrew has been a very busy man during the winter months, taking 4 of our lead video T.A.P (Tech Advancement Program) sessions:

 Andrew’s thirst for knowledge is paired with a keen sense for customer service, allowing him to quickly become a popular technician throughout the DMV. Video has always been his strong-suit but Andrew is well-versed in the lighting and audio realms as well. He continues to sign up for all the TAP Sessions we have to offer, and we couldn’t be happier with his growth!

Tips for working with your AudioVisual Vendor

Planning an event demands attention to many factors. When the outcome is success or trauma for you and your client, it is important to generate a detailed roadmap around hidden obstacles.

Understanding what you can (and can’t) control should help your emotional state and problem solving on game day. The Event Media Tech Sales Team was tasked with providing some of the most useful pieces of information to gather before any show. Armed with this knowledge, your confidence should sell itself!

 

Some do’s and don’ts of working with YOUR AudioVisual Vendor

  • Do work with your provider in terms of goals instead of in terms of equipment. A competent AV partner should be able to take your goals and provide a solution.
  • Do share budgeting info. Armed with a design and a budget, a proper AV designer should be able to create the solution, or articulate why the budget is off.
  • Do ask for recommendations or past photos of work. Ask how many times they have executed a similar design to yours.
  • Do feel free to connect the AV vendor with some of your other vendors. If you feel like you are not comfortable doing this, find an AV vendor that you can trust with this info.
  • Do provide as much day of timeline info as possible. And in turn, the AV vendor should be able to provide you with their in depth timeline as well.
  • Do have fun! Behind the live event business is a vibrant culture of passionate people to enjoy your time with.

 

  • Don’t be afraid to ask if certain equipment is needed, or what it is used for. An honest AV vendor should be able to clearly explain their design and every piece of tech in it.
  • Don’t ask the vendor to perform a task they are not suited to perform. Rigging, for example, can be expensive, but should only be performed by qualified individuals.
  • Don’t wait too long to share any content with the AV provider. They need time to test it with the system, and implement any changes to graphics.
  • Don’t hesitate to ask for line item pricing.  You should be able to pick and choose the right equipment for the right price.
